This month we are recognizing the family of Bill and Tracy Mallette.
Bill and Tracy Mallette, along with their daughters Amanda and Hannah, moved from St. Petersburg, FL to Jupiter in 2001. They were searching for a parish filled with families and children, which lead them to St. Peter Parish. At the time, Mass was being celebrated in the parish hall. When Council 13139 was established at St. Peter, Bill, already a Knight, transferred to the new council. He immediately got involved, participating in various Knights of Columbus activities such as the Tootsie Roll Drive, Basketball Free Throw Competition, volunteering at Roger Dean Stadium, parish festivals, Pro-Life activities, Patriotic Rosaries, leading Rosaries before Masses, and many pancake breakfasts. Amanda and Hannah became experts at serving during the pancake breakfasts along with the Knights.
Bill and Tracy have served in numerous ministries at St. Peter over the years. A ministry close to their hearts is the Friday Stations of the Cross in the meditation garden during Lent, a tradition they have upheld as a family for 22 years. Initially participating and then leading, this practice helps them reflect on how God instructs us to live our lives through the witness of His Passion.
Their ministry involvement has largely been with the parish youth. As Religious Education teachers in the earlier days they prepared 2nd graders for First Communion and taught catechism to the 3rd graders. For years, they assisted at the 9:30 Mass, where younger children would gather in the Chapel during the Liturgy of the Word to receive instruction on the Readings and Gospel. As Hannah grew older, she started helping with the smaller children during Mass. Amanda began as an altar server at the 9:30 Mass and later served at the 5:30 Life Teen Mass when she entered middle school. Amanda loved to sing, at home, school, and in the children's choir at the 9:30 Mass, eventually joining the Life Teen Band and cantoring at the Life Teen Mass.
Over the years, the Mallette girls participated in many Vacation Bible Schools and, as they grew older, volunteered to help run them. Their involvement evolved over the years, leading to the establishment of the EDGE program for middle school youth and Life Teen for high school youth. Bill and Tracy have been Confirmation Catechists, planning and assisting with Sunday Life Nights, Confirmation Retreats, and chaperoning mission trips and Steubenville Conferences. They have continued their involvement with Steubenville Florida, serving in various capacities to support this conference that attracts around 3,000 Catholic teens each summer.
Bill and Tracy are also active in several small groups, with Bill participating in the Thursday Morning Men's Group at the parish, led by a fellow Knight. For the past decade, they have been involved in the Cursillo Movement, focusing on personal spiritual growth, small grouping, and evangelizing communities one person at a time.
Amanda now lives in Orlando and works in meeting planning and trade show organization for the Florida Realtors Association. Hannah lives locally and works in a doctor's office. Both have beautiful, open hearts and are finding their paths in the world.
The Mallette family feels blessed to be part of such an active and welcoming parish community. For them, reflecting on their journey upon being named Family of the Month, they realize how many dynamic and beautiful people have touched their lives since moving here 23 years ago, and they are grateful for this honor.
The St Peter Knights and fellow parishioners are most fortunate that the Mallettes found St Peter parish. THANK YOU for all your contributions over the decades, and congratulations on being nominated Family of the Month!
